Gangsterfilm - USA 1937 - 81

Nach zehn gramvollen Jahren im Zuchthaus von Alcatraz gewinnt der New Yorker Gangsterboss Joe Korzak (Edward G. Robinson) zwar seine Freiheit wieder zurück, verliert aber seine Frau (die gebürtige Wienerin Rose Stradner) an einen jungen Zeitungsreporter (James Stewart). Auf Rache sinnend, plant der Gangster einen letzten Kampf um seinen Sohn. Der Film lebt von der darstellerischen Klasse der beiden Hollywood-Legenden Edward G. Robinson und James Stewart.
